Hello! My name is Kristin Mamrack. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and the owner of Balsam Counseling, PLLC. I know how important it is to have compassionate support when you’re struggling and even when you’re not. To me, compassionate support means having someone dedicated to being on your side who can listen without judgment, understand your experience and help you through it.

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Asheville, North Carolina. I completed a practicum and internships in psychiatric rehabilitation, where I worked with clients with severe mental illness. I also earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi.

“A problem shared is only half a problem.”

    My Methods:

I believe in empowering people to better understand and appreciate themselves, and the people in their lives, as they pursue their goals and dreams. I provide compassionate support and a safe, judgment-free environment in which to explore your concerns, needs and wants.

I most commonly employ teachings and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which promotes psychological flexibility, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I also utilize elements of other evidence-based counseling models and I frequently incorporate the practice of mindfulness into therapy. For couples counseling, I am trained in The Gottman Method.

Schedule a free15-minute consultation to find out if I can help you build the life you want and develop mental strength and emotional resilience to better enjoy it.
