In accordance with the federal No Surprises Act, a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges will be provided upon request or upon scheduling services. The purpose of the estimate is to give clients an opportunity to manage their care costs and to prevent surprise billing.
Insurance
Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance are accepted for individual counseling. (Insurance coverage also includes the State Health Plan of North Carolina.) Alternatively, a superbill will be provided on request, so clients not covered by Aetna or Blue Cross Blue Shield may seek their own reimbursement for payments to out-of-network providers. Out-of-network (OON) claims will be filed as a courtesy to clients. Clients who have met their OON deductible can choose to only pay their co-pay.
Clients also have the option to self-pay for therapy services.
Paying for services privately, without relying on insurance, offers several benefits. Counseling can be helpful for everyone, not just those who meet criteria for a diagnosis of a mental illness or emotional disorder. Filing with an insurance company means your counselor is obligated to provide a diagnosis to the insurance company. This diagnosis becomes a part of your permanent healthcare record.
Additionally, the insurance companies can dictate the timeline of your treatment, rather than having it based solely on your needs. Self-pay services offer greater freedom and flexibility with the type and length of your treatment. Furthermore, by paying privately, your mental health records are not reportable to your insurance company and you can be assured of the highest degree of privacy and control of your information.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a session, please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours prior to the session. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session. All clients are required to keep a valid credit card on file.
